I have tried to stay away from this topic all week for obvious reasons, but while most are calling for Karl's head again just for a change and asking where the money has gone maybe they should consider the years pre premiership
The breakdown only goes up to the end of the 2008 season but covers the last 14 years of which the pool only made a profit in 1 year and maybe people should consider the 13 years of loss making before getting so fixated on last years accounts.
No bogus companies or hidden money bit as some would suggest, They only exclude transfer fees in and out and building fees, if they are added into the figures the overall pre tax profits increase to a loss of 9.7 million
Turnover and pre-tax profit figures are in millions.
Year Turnover Pre-tax profit
2007/08 7.232 -0.357 2006/07 4.833 -0.466 2005/06 3.925 -0.407 2004/05 3.897 -0.237 2003/04 4.656 -0.277 2002/03 4.251 -0.240 2001/02 4.239 + 0.768 2000/01 2.575 -0.774 1999/00 2.863 -0.204 1998/99 2.564 -0.749 1997/98 2.666 -0.262 1996/97 2.391 -0.720 1995/96 2.053 -1.263 1994/95 1.875 -1.119 Total Turnover 50.020
Total Pre-Tax Profit -6.307

Far too sensible, Sherl.
When you go to B/R and look around, see the stadium, see the players we can now sign (Robbie Fowler and Kevin Phillips for heaven's sake), the teams we are playing, and you look back.
Gosh, all the rubbish about who did what, who got paid what, 20 years ago we had a wreck of a ground, survived week to week, had some dreadful players cos that was all we could afford.
This is definitely still the best trip, and thanks to OO and KO. Most rubbish on other boards are from people who could never run a business, don't know the first thing about finance, and think the world runs according to their Football Manager game
Portsmouth, Rangers, Port Vale, who is next? WHU and Leicester gambling the farm on promotion, Cardiff totally dependent on continued investment. Not Blackpool Football Club, we might just be last man standing

Very good article there, Sher, and Ye Olde has quite a few germs of truth in his post, especially in relation to 'other boards', and it vilifies the stance the majority, if not all, of us on here (unlike AVFTT) have in relation to KO's attitude and dealings with the financies.
I'd like to believe we have a more realistic attitude towards what's what at BR - our aspirations for the club, what the club can achieve, and how it can be achieved.
I know, and you'll no doubt agree, that at times we have had some harsh words - [slated him, even] - for the poor guy (KO)-
"either you love him or hate him" scenario, and at times forgotten that first and foremost, he is a businessman but his prudency has paid off - that's what we've all got to be thankful for - and not being in a similar situation like 'Vale, 'Gers, or Pompey, and any others that are heading for the plug-hole.
Though that doesn't and shouldn't hold us back from asking the $64,000 Qs - 'Where does the money go, and/or when will we see the improvements', does it?

Spot on Yeni, and wouldn't want anyone to think other than I too want a far better training facility, money spent on the pitch, etc. But, as long as stuff does get done, I don't care what goes where.
This has been a very long term investment for the O's, and if it does finally pay off, blinkin good luck to them. Success and profit, think a lot of clubs would give their eye teeth for that.

No yeni your right the questions should be allowed to be asked of course and maybe if they where asked correctly people would feel less in the dark.
The full accounts for the premiership season will be posted on a separate thread in a hour or so just reading through the pages myself first lol

I have only one thing to say and when I have said it I shall be leaving this forum. I should say, I have enjoyed being on here since November 2010 but all good things must come to an end, so would like to say thanks to you all and for Sherlock for setting up the forum in the first place. OK, I have been around since the fifties and can honestly say that IH has been the best manager since that era when we last won the FA Cup. When he joined us three years ago he stated that he had seen the training ground and as far as he was concerned Blackpool under his leadership would never train there again, it was deplorable or such like. I am convinced we came down from the Premier League because of fitness, not because of a weak squad, most of defeats came about in the last 20mins, yet three years on and a vast sum earnt from the last season and we are still in the "wild west". The pitch, last summer and now not short of a bob or two, why was the undersoil heating not put in, just as well the winter was kind and on the subject of the pitch I hear and not just from fans on AVFTT that the Fleetwood pitch is better than ours and they are a Conference club. YeOlde mentions "business", well with our early start to the season looking very positive and a return to the Premiership with the largest squad I can remember seeing assembled at the Pool and with the prospect of another real chance of promotion and £40m looming, one would have thoughgt that a little investment re pitch and training would have been a priority, but sadly it hasn't been forthcoming. I feel for Ollie, he has continued the fine work achieved by SG and TP and taken the team to the top of Everest and when you think of the guys who have left over the past 6 months or so and our present position with one arm tied behind his back re the training and the pitch, he has done better than in our last promotion year. For the record YeOlde, when I retired back in '96 from the ATC, I set up a company which I ran up to two years ago before final retirement, never had to use the overdraft that was offered to me at start up, so I do have some idea as to when to spend and not to spend. Cheers and goodbye.

Whoa, were did that come from? The great thing about this forum has been people with sometimes very different views have been able to express them without falling out, and long may that continue. No insults and abuse, respect for different positions, and some great fun. It would be a real shame if someone who has been with us since long before the start leaves because he disagrees with something I have posted. If anything I have said is offensive, I apologise unreservedly
