Could yesterday be the spark that ignites pool push for a playoff place?
I have to admit i arrived at the ground fearing the worst yesterday and in a rather bad mood having learned the team line up on the way to the ground and thinking for **CENSORED**s sake he we go again tinkering with the squad but as the saying goes in Ollie we trust.
While we still had the odd dodgy moment against the league leaders i thought the team looked fresh and up for it.
so many good performances to mention but a few that deserve a special mention, first young Tom what a game he had and is growing in stature every match and i think it might just help Matty along taking some of the pressure him and now for the remaining games opposition managers have a real headache on their hands trying to keep them both quiet.
As for midfield what can you say love him or hate him Southern had a good game, yes he has lost any pace he had left lol and can be late on the tackle and sometimes his passes aren't the best but the guy never stops and he harasses the opposition into mistakes and yesterday he seemed to have more freedom to roam and break up the play.
Southerns game yesterday was mainly in part to a fantastic display from squad fringe player Angel what a time he picked to come to the party, A fantastic display yesterday by the young Spaniard he hustled and bustled and make some impressive tackles but more than anything else he passed the ball forward, not sideways or backwards and i am sorry Barry but i think your going to be hard pushed to replace him.
Then we have Dobbie who worked hard in his first full start and again linked up with Kieth and Angel and drove the team forward, i personally like Dobbie for the simple reason given half a yard of space from outside the box and he is going to shoot and its going to travel at a rate of knots, all this of course let GTF play his natural game he has his knockers but his footwork with a ball at his feet is second to none in the squad and is a nightmare to stop when he is running at you into the box.
And finally to the young man that was my man of the match Harris what a great performance yes he gave the pen away but besides that it was a 100% pure gold display by the youngster some of his last min tackles where just stunning and his pass down the line to Matty in the first half pure quality and he is going to pressure crainey for that starting place and crainey is one of the few i thought has had a good season all season.
If we can get KP fit again as i believe he has a hip injury, yesterday could be the start of another perfect 10 like last time and we all know what happened then.
Overall boys you gave a fantastic display yesterday and cheered to pool fans up no end.
From anger to sheer joy all in the space of 90 Min's
