Blackpool couldn't mark their 125th birthday with a victory, as the Seasiders development squad were beaten 2-1 by Chorley at Bloomfield Road.
A Gerardo Bruna penalty gave the home side the lead on 27 minutes, but after a second-half penalty miss from Louis Almond, Ash Parillon's well-taken double secured victory for the visitors.
The development squad took to the field wearing the club's brand new 125th anniversary kit, with Keith Millen taking charge of his first match and manager Ian Holloway watching on from the stands.
The opening stages were relatively low key, but a youthful Blackpool side began to control possession, with Bruna dribbling past two Chorley defenders and blazing over on 10 minutes.
Shortly after and Millen's men carved out their finest opening of the half when Almond threaded a deft ball into the path of Liam Tomsett.
But with the Chorley defence stationary in anticipation of an offside flag and just the keeper to beat, the youngster could only fire straight at goalkeeper Russ Saunders.
Thankfully that miss was soon forgotten about when the youngster won his side a penalty on 27 minutes.
A cross from trialist Adda Djeziri was only half dealt with by the Chorley defence and as Tomsett looked to latch on to the loose ball, Saunders' rash challenge sent him crashing to the floor.
Referee Richard Wild pointed straight to the spot, with Bruna stepping up and dispatching his penalty into the roof of the net.
The visitors went close through long distance efforts from Kiaran Walmsley and Steve Foster, at the end of the opening 45 minutes, but Pool were good value for their lead at the break.
New signing Jake Caprice and midfielder Jamie Menagh made their Blackpool bows at half-time and the Seasiders had an immediate chance to double their advantage.
Almond was brought down in the box by defender Si Garner and despite the protestations of the Chorley players, referee Wild pointed to the spot for a second time.
The striker climbed to his feet and took the spot-kick himself, but his tame effort was too close to the keeper, who parried wide.
That save seemed to give the visitors hope and they levelled through a smart turn and finish from Ash Parillon.
Cool heads were needed from Pool's youngsters, but after a prolonged period of possession Parillon doubled his account for the evening and put Chorley in front on 73 minutes, with a smart, close-range header.
Winger Alex Addai impressed in the latter stages with a number of surging runs, but his efforts weren't enough to force an equaliser, as Blackpool fell to a 1-2 defeat.
