my copy of the main work describes as written mostly by 1946 with additions to 1949 - and the great man left Cambridge in the early 50's.
a different question then - what was the final number played by Hugh Laurie in his celebration of new orleans blues - also featured in "let them talk"?

He did this gig with Tom Jones, if I can remember correctly.

There seems a bit of a time-lag at answer to 213 ......... Q # 214 When (or if) Prince William ascends the throne, what number will he have as King - William the Second, William III, William IV, or what? .

and just to remind all participants of the thread....PRO-BOARD – RULES: Vide Post 1. (1) Each question runs for 24 hours, or sooner if answered correctly. (2) The person who answers correctly gets his/her opportunity to ask 'The Question' for within the above time limit. (3) If no-one answers correctly within the given time limit (ie. 24hours), that person gets another chance to test our grey cells. (4) There is no limit as to the type of question – any subject but football. (sensible questions though). The following amendments/additions were made as necessary: It was suggested, without dissent, vide post 12, that the '24 hours' be reduced to ' 6 hours' and that no 'googling' be permitted on any question vide post 11 (as verified by posts 56, 57 & 58). It was suggested that is obligory upon the questioner to be able to state whether an answer is right or wrong during the question-time and not right at the end of the six hours of their question. Accepted. Without dissent, the point that if the individual does not put forward a question within, say, one hour, of being informed that their answer is correct, or at the question's time-up, their chance to ask a question be forfeited, was also accepted. The Adjudicator(s) decision is Final. (vide post 606) I trust this clarifies things for all those that take part.

Well, its time up for that question according to those rules, and time up for the follow up question too. ;D
Next question....
staying on topic.....(almost) Seeing as it's Rossini's birthday........William Tell was probably his most famous overture, but part of a not very often heard opera.
Name another famous Rossini Opera..?
