Hi everyone, I'm proud to be the first to post in this section. A big thank you to sherlock for creating this forum and i hope it will be used by many for years to come.
I will tell you a bit about myself, i was born and raised in blackpool and my earliest memories of going to watch the pool are in the mid to late seventies, my dad and me used to go into the west stand most saturdays for home games, i dont remember a lot of the players, i remember jumping over the wall by the pitch at the end of games and trying to get the tie ups off players lol. Fond memories of us playing against fort lauderdale, not sure what year, but they seemed exotic then. I remember us playing qpr in a cup game, with tony currie playing for them and a charity match against liverpool for the policeman that died in the sea. Also my dad worked at squires gate and managed to get me in when the pool were training, i walked around all the guys and i seem to remember giving cups of tea to the likes of iain hesford and others. happy days sadly i moved away when i was a teenager but always followed the pool through the dark days and now the great days. I have just returned to the UK from Colombia so i guess im going to have to change my name

A Bit about me I guess I first visited Bloomfield Road back in 1977 so i am a youngster compared to some of you I have been every year since and see some good and bad times but have never looked anywhere else for my football and have enjoyed watching the ground and team develop and not ashamed to say had a few tears in my eyes when we made it to the promised land. I have worked and live in and around Blackpool all my life and currently live in a small village outside of Blackpool which has finally caught up and now provides a decent connection to the internet finally. I stumbled across the 606 board by accident after we won promotion and i enjoy the banter but some days its just full of idiots so i thought of this little hiding place and considering i know nothing about computers its not to bad But please anybody with experience of these board things feel free to step in Right time to go and read the Jargon on how to set up the live chat room

I we are doing intros, I am a plastic, born and lived most of my life in Nelson, next door to Burnley but for some unknown inspirational reason I have always supported Blackpool, first game at Bloomers was in the 60s against Wolves. Best moment was Wembley this year and the worst when we were relegated from the old div 2 in the 70s. Living in Salford these days, its near to work. First seaon I have had a season ticket (never needed one before) i sit in the North right behind the goal and the crossbar blocks my view if the goal at the South end.

HI as it's intro's, here we go...........Born in Lytham Hospital and as it's now a psychgeriatric unit, who knows I could even end up dieing in there too. Grew up in Lytham, Balham and Warton until moving to London to do an apprenticeship in electrical engineering. Since then lived in Oxford, South Wales and Manchester where I've now been for the last 23 years. Big change in '94 when I went to Salford University to do my degree in prosthetics and orthotics , following which I worked as a prosthetist at Withington Hospital here in Manchester. Haveing never been very good at keeping my opinion to myself, it was decided by mutual agreement in2006,. that maybe working in an environment full of people who were up their own arses wasn't for me. First game at Bloomers was against West Brom back in the 60's. It was my first glimpse of Tangerine against the vibrant green of the grass (the floodlights were on but I can't remember if it was a night match or just a crappy winters day) and that was it.....the first love of my life and the longest lasting! I always used to stand on the kop in those days (that's where the north stand is now for any youngsters who don't remember it)and can remember some great games and some goddamn awfull ones aswell! Strangely, the lowest point of my support for the 'pool was at Wembley in the play-off final against Torquay.....penalties after extra time (why we had to endure extra time god only knows 'cause the first 90 minutes were tedious enough) Blackpools leading goalscore takes the first pen and misses..........misses the bloody corner flag by inches that is! That was enough for me, I left immediately...a sad lonely figure walking down the old Wembley Way on my own. The highpoint of my supporting the 'pool was the 3-0 win at Deepdull the last time we got promoted to the top flight. My great hope for the future is to rid myself of this disease of supporting the 'pool through thick and thin but I'm not holding my breath as I don't think a cure will be found in my lifetime.

Hi All,
This is brilliant seeing all the real Seasiders here in what looks a great new forum so thanks to you organisers.
I am a bit of an oldie and I didnt think it possible but I seem to get more passionate about Blackpool with age. I have always been manically defensive of our great club and it sometimes gets me into trouble both on the various forums and also at Bloomers when we get the boo boys and especially now with the plastics. I wont change though.
My first game was about 1954 when I was seven years old. I had been out "bagging" and I was on Lytham Road and I could hear the noise of the crowd but didnt know what it was. My little truck for carrying the holidaymakers suitcases had bust so with a pocketful of change I dumped the truck and followed the noise. I havnt a clue who we played that day but I queued up at the boys entrance and walked up those old Kop steps and when I got to the top and saw the pitch down below it took my breathe away. I was hooked and have been ever since. If anybody is wondering what a little chap of seven was doing alone in the big bad world at that age it was the norm in those days and we all tried to earn a few pennies back then to ease the burden at home. #anim_03#
Although I have been around a while I think most people my age and all age would agree that it has never been better to be a Blackpool fan and we are playing football I never, ever thought I would see from our team. Not so long ago my dream was just to be back playing that shower from up the road again in the derby games. Gosh, how times change.
Well, thats me and thanks again to the organisers for this new forum.
UP THE POOL

Hi Everyone.
This is like a strange episode of "This is your life " So lets open the big red book.
I was born in St,Annes hospital more years ago than I care to remember, and First Went To Bloomfield Rd with my Father, himself a red to see Man U play Blackpool. Id be about ten and as I'v said before it was the first time I'd seen Football in colour, stood in the corner of the scratchin shed and the kop with my little head just about level with the pitch.Watched Jimmy Armfield damn near put George Best in my lap!I was hooked both on Jimmy and the Tangerine shirts. From then on I went nearly every week traveling from Ballam with two other Lads and their Father (a season ticket holder)he went in the South while we three snotty nosed urchins made our way to the Kop,no segregation,in the First division, happy days. Moved up to Scotland and started working in the theatre so my trips to bloomers took a dive, started watching Partick Thistle as being football mad and nothing comparing to being at a game, but ask anyone in Glaswow that knew me and even though our fortunes where to say the least on the wane I was always Tangerine. Worked in Germany for years after that so even further away, came back and ended up in Devon with Plymouth as my home game, until a couple of years ago when I arrived back on the Fylde. My return to regular trips to Bloomers seems to have coincided with the rise and rise of the Pool.Long may it continue.

Hi there,Im not sandgrown, I was born in a village just outside Leicester,so all my family are LCFC fans. Moved to Blackpool when I was 9 (which is quite some time ago!!!!!!) and my first game was against Chelsea at home with my dad. The funny thing was we went in the Chelsea end because it would be safer my dad said, unfortunately not.........seem to remember things being thrown over and for a young girl of 9 it was not a pleasent experience Didn't go again till the 80's. Was a member of the supporters club and used to stand round the bar area with Paul, Ozzie and the bar staff (things dont change there then heheheh). Used to go to every home match and be in the west, and most of the away matches sometimes being the only girl on the supposters bus. Then i met my ex hubby and all the visits stopped.Still followed the pool and made the odd visit but not as many as I wouldve liked. Now much older although dont think much wiser!!!!. Money is tight and dont get to go to many pool games but have made a great many friends through listening on the internet(justin,&official site) and now watch most of the games with the live streams. Looking forward to this new forum and meeting fellow minded pool fans and just to finish This is the best trip i've ever been on!!!!!! UTP

Been going ever since and had a ST in old south stand Q block for years till it closed. Dont get up enough now tho, due to living here and tickets after we found 10.000 extra new fans last season . I was born in Moston Manchester in a family at war - Man Utd and Man City fans (if pushed I prefer the reds) and moved to St Annes around the age of five. First match at Bloomers was against Man City (my grandad took me - i think he was trying to get me to support the blues but I got tangerine in my blood that day). City won 1 - 0 and, if memory serves me right, alan oakes scored the goal. Because my dad worked saturdays the only matches I got to see as a youngster where midweek ones .. i was 16 before i realised you could play football when it's still daylight ...
Started going regularly in the mid 70's despite being banned from going on my own (youngsters ask your dads, dads you will remember what it was like) while we under Harry Potts and Allan Brown. Seriously fell out with the club when Brown was sacked and didn't go again until the mid eighties ..
I was all over the place (geographically and metaphorically!) from 1980 till 1995 ish when I moved back to Marton, visiting Bloomers as often as time and money would allow.
Highs - Playing Bobby Robson's Ipswich in the League Cup and beating them 2-0 playing brilliant football (1978?)
Lows - allan browns sacking
Most memorable match (for the wrong reasons!) v Chesterfield, New Years Day 1991(?). We won 4-0 it was bloody freezing and I had the worst hangover ever .. fun it wasn't ..

Dunno how I've missed this till now, thanks for sharing My name is Ye Olde, and I'm a Tangerine First went to Bloomers with my bruv and his mate sometime around 71, bus on our own from Thornton. Natural habitat the Scrattin Shed, first time I'd met up withpeople outside the village school tribe ( God, hasn't the world changed|) Occasional visits to the Kop, even the odd South Stand. Can't remember specific games, just the elation of winning and the depression of losing, and the pride in wearing the scarf ( no shirts then) My brother's mate got a car, and we went away to some of the Lancashire B's, rememeber the Bob Lord stand as something weird, so upright and posh ( cf the Shed!!) They went off to Yorkshire, and I carried on going with a mate. Not too keen on some of the Mayhem, remember a night FA cup match before the Fylde Sixth Form Assoc do at the Mecca, like a warzone out front Late 70's brought moving away to Uni in the south, then 80's and 90's work, family, mortgages, redundancy (x3). Didn't get to Bloomers, but always looked for the result first. Saw them at the Cobblers when we lived there, unfortunately in the Cobblers stand with my lads who went to footie there each Saturday. Couldn't believe how quiet and well behaved everyone was. Couple of work colleagues were heavily involved with the club, so saw a few games, my kids may not be Tangerines, but are still Footie mad. Was always regarded as a bit of a joke at work as a Blackpool supporter, not that that bothered me. Gradually moved further north, now living and working in the Lakes, and finally getting to see the odd match, in first a 2 stand, then 3, finally now 4 stands. Found 606 when the Blessed Alan Suddick died, and have been talking bollocks on line ever since. The joy of this year has been online streams, reminds me of listeming to radio 1 in the 70's, interference, fading, stopping and starting. Have been quite surprised at the age of fellow posters, thought I was old when I started, reckon I'm in the median of all you guys and gals Really great to have this site, for which many thanks Sherlock. Will still be on 606 defending our honour, but looking forward to enjoying the rest of this crazy season with you lovely people.

Born in Glasgow, moved to Blackpool in 73 when I was 6.My Dad used to take me to the kop. After witnessing absolute mayhem with Wolves visiting,my Dad unfortunately never went again.I was going again about age 13 and continued up until I moved in 2003. Highlight was leyton Orient at Cardiff.Low....was getting battered 4-0 at Tranmere in the rain. Going to see if I can meet up with any Blackpool fans in Ontario to watch a game on tv.

Hi All. I have a very different life story to tell. Born in Blackpool but family moved to Channel Islands for work reasons when I was 3 months old, hence to username. Followed BFC all my life and never wavered. Joined Navy 1966 travelled the world for 10 years and listened for pool results on world service. Married in 1973 and took young wife to Blackpool on honeymoon early Jan. hopefully to catch a game. First team away in FA cup at Bradford reserves at Newcastle so had to find other things to do. Not to difficult in wet and windy Blackpool. In 1980 went back to CI where everyone knows who I support and look to see if they lose so they can give me s**t. Now live in Costa del Sol and you could say I am living the dream twice. High points whenever Blackpool win especially promotion. Low points whenever they lose. Well done with this Forem, 606 can be really boring.

Hi guys, been following on 606 for a while, but never really felt the need to post. Started following Blackpool from the first game I went to, which we when I was pretty young, can't remember who we were against, back in the old South Pavilion days. Other early memories include being mascot against Peterborough on 09/02/2002, on the day of the minutes silence for Princess Margaret. I had a season ticket for 4 or 5 years, in the North West corner (only £52 as a youth), but then I got a Saturday job, so I couldn't make the games any more. I still kept an eye on the Pool though, and it's great to see us back where we belong, and long may it last.

Hi all, been watching Blackpool off and on for about 40 years. My dad took me to my first game back in 1970, my dad,mum and auntie were all Pool fans and were lucky To be at the 53 final. I still took my mum to a few games a season up to this year, but cant get seats together now so she's not been this year. Lived in Blackpool all my life playing for Foxhall, Spirit of Youth then Squires Gate. Whilst playing footy I stopped watching Blackpool but started again when my body would let me play no more. Sit in the North Stand now just to the right of centre and am loving every minute.
