Some you will – some you won’t…….
Blackpool hold the record for the longest unbroken run at the top of the (Old) First Division from 3 September 1939 until the start of the 1945-6 season.
On the19th April 1957 Blackpool were the first club to fly to a Football league match to London – Highbury, for the Good Friday fixture against Arsenal the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
And also the first to fly to a match (Cardiff) on the day of the game.
The only club in English football to be promoted thru all the divisions via the Play-offs (in nine years).
The ‘Pool hold the record (jointly with Blackburn/Sheff.Wed. 1890) for the most goals - 7- in a Cup Final. (1953)
Blackpool were involved in the first six-figure transfer fee between English Clubs - Alan Ball to Everton, August 1966 – the sum being £112000).
The first live televised match in England was between Bolton and Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on 9th September, 1960.
We have recently set a new Prem league record – of 18 matches for both scoring and conceding in the same home game.
Additionally, the recent game against Stoke was the first time any club had failed to score in the Prem.at Bloomers.
Brett Ormerod has scored for Blackpool in every division of the football league, as well as the FA and League Cups.
Are Blackpool the first to have Royalty in attendance
(20 November 2010 against Wolves at Bloomfield Road)
in a League match?
Blackpool are the 44th team in the top flight.
Did you know that in July 2003, Bloomfield Road was granted a licence to hold marriage ceremonies?
We have scored more goals from corners than any other Prem team – 12 so far.
(..and what was SAF saying about Charlie at £10million a peg?)
Anyone got any others……?
Oh, and a record that them at th’ ither end of the M55 would want to do without:
P*****n’s heaviest ever home defeat was when we won 7-0 at Dumpdale in 1948.
(A few of us on here may well remember that).
Forever in Our Shadow…..
