Need a bit of advice from those sojourned in our fair town
The wife's daughter is coming up to Blackpool for the weekend, staying at a place not far from B/R with her fella and his son (8 ish) We need somewhere to meet them for a meal, only we have 2 dogs as well. Know a few places round the old haunts, but any suggestions in Blackpool?
Many thanks in anticipation

Sorry, Ye Olde - not having any dogs, etc., I wouldn't know which places accept entry of pets.
The only suggestion I could make is 'The Swift Hound' for a meet (outside facilities if weather is fine) leave the dogs in the car, and have a meal in there, parking on doorstep.
Never go into town either, so don't know any places there except 'Fontana'? which is on same street as Yate's was.
YL.

Will have a ask around but the only places i know are outside town, like lytham area.
Uncle toms did but has been refurbished and now banned dogs if its a nice day you might be better driving out to somewhere like the eagle and child at weeton who have a nice garden you can dine in and bring the dog
or the beer garden at the bay horse in thornton

Sounds reasonable, Sher.
I could pin-point a dozen places in the Lytham & Fylde.
Tho' he did state Blackpool specifically......

Cheers for this, guys. Had to smile at the Bay Horse, went to school opposite it! Think you're right, though, will pick 'em up and drive out. Haven't been to the Eagle for a long time, great idea, ta. If it's raining, they'll be fine in the car, and Hound or F&B's probably favourite

If they're coming this weekend I'd avoid Lytham pubs as its Club Day and they will be packed. Parking is a nightmare. How about a walk through lytham and then the Grapes at Wrea Green for lunch?

Best steer clear of the Grumpy Locals Grapes then LOL
Do you have a lot of holiday home owners down there, then? mega problem up here in the Lakes, it's killed many of the local sports teams, cos there aren't enough locals and youngsters.

Its killed the Village mate ever since they where allowed to build so called new starter homes they got permission then found a loop hole in the planning rules and the new starter homes started at 350,000 and that was 15 years ago..
All my Generation basically have had to leave the village if they want to own their own house a basic cottage with 3 rooms down stairs and two bedroom upstairs will set you back the best part of 300 k
Its killed the cricket teams we use to have 4 teams and a junior team and senior team now we have 2 combined and in the winter its like a ghost town..
People call it progress but its a backward step in my eyes the community has gone and now its all about who has the flashiest 4 X 4

Couldn't agree more sherl,Wrea Green club day used to be the best around, but that was when the Grapes was a pub and Bods really did taste like Bods. As you say progress

I used to work at the Grapes many years ago and yep the bodds was good traditional cask ale then they sold the brewery side to Whitbread who intern sold out to interbrew and as they say the rest is history sadly....
As for club day will not be long before that goes bang

Club day in Lytham used to be fun but now its like WW3. I was in the chippy the other night and overheard that coaches come from BLACKBURN for a day out. Hardly a local to be seen! Wrea Green was always one of the best ,but like you say Sherlock its now full of bloody grockles from Liverpool.
Also notice Redrow are building 12 houses on a patch of ground that used to be Wareings yard for 500k+ each! Nice pad for a Pool player maybe? but not us ordinary folk!

would love to know how they going to get 12 houses on the old wareings site... how long before a road accident as they try and pull out their new homes by the old bank..
used to be such a quiet village but 5pm is like a race way mind you if you add over 120 houses to a village in 20 years guess it stops being a village... another piece of old england lost for ever more

Ye Olde..maybe you could return the favour. I slipped up over our recent wedding anniversary (oops) and it's my Wife's Birthday on Thursday and I'm away. As such I'm needing to make some ammends and thought a nice weekend in the Lakes would do the trick. Can you recommend a good hotel/top end pub thats a bit oldy worldy, and off the beaten track?

Sorry, Pete, only just seen your post.
Queens Head at Troutbeck, pub, but very top end, only four poster bar I know. tiny village. Good hotel but a lot quieter, Lodore Falls next to Derwent Water. Langdale Leisure 5 star hotel, big place but Fabby location near Elterwater
Most decent hotels are in the slightly busier spots, PM me if you need anymore
